How To Get Started

To help you get started with the process of creating your website, this page gives you helpful info about the steps you will need to take. You may also like to look through the frequently asked questions page.

  1. Send circularcube Your Design Brief: this describes what you want your website to be like and what you'd like it to achieve. For more details please see the circularcube website design brief guidelines (PDF).

For a more comprehensive approach you may like to take advantage of circularcube's website strategy services.

When you're ready simply email your design brief.

  2. Timescales / Budget: Once circularcube has seen your design brief we can then discuss timescales (for when we need your text and images and for project completion) and also provide you with a quote.
  3. Contract / Deposit: After agreeing the quote and before work commences circularcube will require you to agree to our terms and conditions and design procedure. You will also need to send a (non-refundable) deposit of £100 or 20% of the total project (whichever is the higher). For most sites the remainder will then be due upon completion of the project. However for some larger projects, payment may be required in instalments throughout the project.
  4. Send Us Your Text: Once the budget and timescales have been agreed then we will need you to send all the text needed for your website including the text for each page, an overview showing the structure of the pages and any specific instructions like where particular images need to be placed etc. Please supply in electronic format such as a word processor document. The text will need to be sent to circularcube within any timescales already agreed. For help with writing your text see the circularcube writing text for websites document (PDF).
  5. Send Us Your Images: We will also need all photographs, logos, etc needed for the project. Please supply in electronic format on CD and in either JPG, TIFF or PNG format. Images need to be supplied in the highest quality you have available - circularcube will then be able to adapt them to the right format needed for your website. Please also make every effort to take photos of a good standard. Good quality photos make a big difference to the overall look of your website. There are lots of books and information on the internet to help with taking good photos. For example see about.com's tips on Taking Great Pictures for Web Sites. If you don't feel confident taking photos yourself you may want to consider hiring a professional photographer. You can also contact circularcube who can do on-site photography. Another option is to source stock photos online - for example at istockphoto. If your images contain people you need to get their permission to use them on your site and ideally get them to sign a model release form. You also need a property release form signed if your photo contains any recognizable buildings.
  6. Design Work Commences: Once we've received all of the above then work can begin to build your website. At all suitable stages in the web design process circularcube will make work available at a temporary web location for proofing purposes. This will enable you to view the work in progress and provide feedback and comments.
  7. Completion: Once circularcube has completed the design of all the pages and you have confirmed either by email or post that they are happy with it, then circularcube will make the site live and send you the invoice.
